I'm going to have an HSG Xray next week... I was wondering if any other ladies have had this done? I was reading about the test online and some sites talked about the risk of bleeding (which always triggers my attention since we all know we aren't "normal" bleeders). Should I just take my DDAVP ahead of time? I will also make sure they don't give me any no-nos like anti-inflammatory stuff. Just curious about the potential for bleeding. Thanks!

I don't take chances myself. If you were to have some damage during the procedure it could be a big problem. They are pushing through your cervical opening and going into your uterus. On a normal person there is risk, but with us that have VWD that risk is much higher. Better safe than sorry in my opinion. But you will have to discuss this with your hematologist. I hope you have one that you trust. Please let us know how things go.

Hi allergic! Thanks for weighing in on this. I ended up taking my DDAVP ahead of the procedure and did well! Just a small amount of bleeding. I am thankful it turned out as well as it did. It hasn't always been that way for me in the past, so that was wonderful. I made sure to tell the radiologist about my bleeding before the procedure began. I do have a great hematologist, who I am also thankful for! :)
