Living with Von Willebrand Disease (VWD) can be challenging, but Brandee Cookson’s story shows that resilience, proper care, and community support can make all the difference.
Brandee was diagnosed with Type 3 VWD at age 12 after experiencing heavy bleeding and frequent health challenges that disrupted her everyday life. Before her diagnosis, she faced uncertainty, missed school days, and struggled with fatigue. Once she received proper treatment, including Humate-P, she began to regain stability and confidence.
Instead of letting VWD define her, Brandee turned her experiences into a source of strength. She now advocates for awareness, shares her story to inspire others, and emphasizes the importance of patient support networks. Her journey reminds us that with the right care, guidance, and community, it’s possible to live fully — even with a rare bleeding disorder.

“VWD taught me to listen to my body, advocate for myself, and connect with others who truly understand. Support changes everything.” — Brandee Cookson
